Our client, a Global FTSE 100 specialising in emission control technologies, needed assistance from the onset of their project – to completely refurbish their original HQ building in Hertfordshire.
Following initial meetings and in the face of regional and national competition, we quickly identified that this client needed our Discovery approach – to collect the necessary evidence before embarking on a design for their space.
Working alongside the project lead as consultants, we worked with stakeholders and staff to identify the key drivers behind this project. As part of our discovery phase we analysed: – staff profiles, carried out space occupancy studies, identified meeting room usage and looked at storage audits. Finally, we analysed predicted growth over the next 5 years in order to build a clear picture of what shape the design process needed to follow.
As a result of our shape process, the results combined as a complete D&B project involving extensive refurbishment works to the existing building fabric. This included re-roofing the building, strop out and new M&E systems throughout and replacement of circa 350 windows in the building. Several floors were then fitted out in phases – whilst the staff were re-located floor by floor and the building was kept fully functioning throughout the fitout to minimise disruption.
