Babraham Research Campus is considered to be the UK’s leading campus to support early-stage bioscience enterprise. World class research and business come together to promote innovation and strengthen links between academia and the commercial world. When it came to considering the Atrium space in Babraham’s newly constructed Jonas Webb Building, the Campus asked for a number of regional suppliers to tender for the design and delivery of the furniture package for this space. The challenge for this atrium space was to create open plan collaboration and informal meeting space as well as a place for staff and visitors to the building to eat, drink and relax.
Atriums by their very design can be cold and uninviting in the winter and too bright in the summer! Using a combination of low soft seating, sofas and poseur height tables we divided up the space into zones, using a unique free standing screen system. We combined this with some iconic Arc lamps to bring a lower level light element for those darker winter months. The result is a very flexible and usable space which has added value to the building for both the client and tenants alike.
This project included:
"Excellent design visuals and customer attention throughout the process which has resulted in a relaxing central hub for our tenants and visitors to meet and network."
